And now a break for commercials...

One feature of Darkness Falls: The Crusade by Mythic Entertainment was the act of raiding another realm and hopefully stealing an idol or two and bringing it home so that all throughout the land enjoyed a boost of ratings...for as long as it was able to be held onto, of course.

Within this Capture the Flag format (a game I learned at day camp with a lot of sneaking and running around just to snatch whatever was identified as the "flags" for the game - extra camp t-shirts worked great!), there was a guaranteed moment when everything would go dark in the game, except for the in-game chatter one was intended to see, and it was while "riding a boat over to the other realm."

This break was a great chance to break away from the computer, take care of the more physical realities for about 10 to 20 minutes(?), without feeling like you weren't actively participating in the gaming atmosphere at any given moment.

Darn it!  I need to go deal with one of those physical realities.  Perhaps I should have considered it before sitting down to scribble and scribe a little more content to this particular blog...

Bathroom break! :)

1st Published Darkness Falls Thought

Gaming visuals used for the more popular video games, such as World of Warcraft, WvWvW, Everquest and Fallout3  make me nauseous.  Literally.  That’s a part of why I’ve always been a fan of far less 3D action and far more of a flat, connect the whatevers with a mouse and/or keyboard and ta-da!

Darkness Falls: The Crusade (1999) was a relatively popular MUD-style multiple role player game (RPG and/or MRPG) owned and developed by Mythic Entertainment and served up to the public via the America Online (AOL) community.

Those were the days where people were paying per hour of usage and bandwidth issues quickly swamped the value of arguing with consumers over just what portion of the hour they were being charged for was actually a “satisfactory experience” with all pay as you go providers.

More later.
